Don’t let the water hose be your only source of water fun during the summer, why not plan a day of water fun at a local or close by water park. Kids and water equal lots of smiles and fun. Get some other moms to help you set up this “Water park fundraiser”.
In fact this fundraiser could be ran a few times through out the summer months so you can be sure to raiser a much money as you can for your schools’ needs. Scoop out what it would cost for a group of kids to enter the park for a day and see if they’d give a discount. Try to see if you can get a discount on usage of inner-tubes and life vest for the young ones. This will make it easier to set up a fee for this days activities when you go to list it in the newspaper and when you pass out fliers.
Once you’ve found out all the information, it’s time to put together the fundraiser event. In your newspaper ad be sure you to include all the information about the fundraiser, like where it’s going to be held, how they’ll get there, what is included in the fee to go and when the event will be over.
Ask those who are attending if they have their own life vest or inflatable inner-tubes or floaties to bring them if they don’t want to pay a cost for rental. Ask that everyone bring a packed lunch and a drink in non-breakable bottles. If the water park doesn’t allow food or drinks to be brought in, then have already on hand an arrangement for a discount at the water parks concession stands. Perhaps a free meal coupon can be donated by the park for bringing in such a large group of swimmers.
The water park might have a group deal which includes the entry price, rental of flotation devices, and meal already set for a large group of attendees. Just ask when getting this fundraiser up, the increase the individual cost for each attendee to make your profit.
It might be good to have same colored wrist bracelets for all attendees to wear. Have the child’s name matched to a parents name for safety reasons. These can be purchased at party supply stores. This is a precaution parents will appreciate.
Since this is a fundraiser activity, be sure to make that known throughout the days fun. The cost of the entry into the park will be covered by the fee charged, it still would be good to see if others would like to donate even though they might not attend. Have some donation boxes set up while everyone is loading into the transportation, this way you might be able to pull in a few more donations besides what you raise from the fundraiser.
Arrange to have as many large passenger vans available to help transport attendees to and from the water park. Get parents to donate their vehicles if possible or see if you can get a school bus to drive you back and forth to and from the water park.
In your ad be sure to list what they will need to bring and pay to go. Don’t forget to announce this as a Water park fundraiser event. It’s a great way to keep parents informed about the needs of the school and it allows them to be a part of solving the situation of lack of funds for the schools their children attend. The economy is hard on everyone these days, but school will feel the crunch of this as more and more monies are taken away from schools. So let everyone do their part in raising money for the schools.
All right. Ready, set, swim……………………..splash!!!!!
