Water Fun Day

Warmer days are fast approaching. Before you know it Spring, then Summer will be here. This means kids will be looking for something to do outside. What a great opportunity to plan a “Water Fun Day Fundraiser” ahead of time for that moment. Make arrangements now to host this fundraiser several times over the Summer School Break – or even spring break if you live where it is warm!

Parents are always looking for activities to take their kids to during the summer. They don’t want to sit around hearing their kids complain about being bored, so if this fundraiser is set up ahead of time and parents are made aware of it, arrangements will be made for their kids to attend this fundraiser.

Start by deciding how many times as host/hostess you want to hold this fundraiser and how long. Then set about getting volunteers to help out. By doing this early, parents can plan for their kids to help out. Too this way vacations can be planned around the events dates. You want to then decide what water activities you’ll do. A few examples of water activities that might be good for this fundraiser are, water balloon fights, slip and slide fun, water sprinklers, bubble blowers and perhaps a kids car wash.

You can ask around like friends, family, neighbors and so forth to see if they have slip and slides you can borrow. Water balloons are cheap so you can purchase many packages of these. Bubbles can be made with dish soap and buckets of water. You can use different objects in these buckets to produce different sizes and shapes of bubbles. The same goes with water sprinklers, you can see if people will let you borrow these.

If you want to take the time, you can ask around at mass merchandising stores, outlet stores, and dollar stores and see if they have out of season merchandise or overstock they’d be willing to donate towards this fundraiser. Things like bubbles, washable paints, soaps, slip and slides, water hoses, buckets, and balloons. Most times stores will have open packages of items sitting in the back of their stores they’d be willing to part with.

You’ll need help with this event, so students and parents will need to be on hand to help out. Encourage parents who bring their kids to enjoy the day too. Arrange for the students and parents to watch over a certain water fun activity.

Give thought to where you’d like to host an event such as this as well. Could be the school would be willing to host this at the school. Check with the parks services. They might know of a great place to hold an event such as this. It will need to be close to water sources, could be this might be held at a beach area or park area where water would be plenty and not an issue.

If you want to include lunch with this fun day, then have PTA member bring grills to the fundraiser and grill hotdogs. Purchase cases of small chips and cans of soda. This could be included in the price you’ll charged those who come to the fundraiser. Assign some students to trash patrol and make sure all the garbage is picked kept picked up.

While this might seem like to much to plan, it really isn’t. Planned ahead of time, this fundraiser can go over without a hitch. Just make sure you have a place secured to host it, what activities you’ll have, volunteers to help out and if you’ll be providing some sort of a lunch. This fundraiser is sure to bring in monies for the school. So relax and enjoy and start planning now.
