Stop, Drop and Roll Fire Safety Fundraiser

Elementary Schoolgirl fire Safety fundraiser

This fundraiser is a great way to educate young kids and adults alike about fire safety while raising donations for upcoming school events. This can also be a time to raise food donations for the local food bank. Of course the fire department and police department will need to be contacted ahead of time and arrangements made to host this event either at the police department or fire department.

The organizer of this fundraiser can meet with the fire chief as well as the police chief and explain the purpose of this fundraiser. Both of these departments are always willing to take the time to educate the public about safety. Too by explaining the purpose of this fundraiser is to help establish funds for local school events and raise food donations for community food banks, will give these public safety services the opportunity to ask others to show their support by attending.

You’ll want to set this event to take place either on a weekend or over a school break. Get with the PTA and arrange to sell hot-dogs and sodas as a snack after the safety demonstration. You might approach local grocery stores and see if they’d like to take part in this fundraiser by donating the hot-dogs, buns, and soda. On the hot-dog stand, at the event, you can place the ads of the store as way of public advertising for their help. Arrange to have some students tend the hot-dog booth as well as manage the food donation area while the fundraiser takes place.

Be sure to have some of the students assist the fire department and police depart with demonstrations regarding fire safety. Have them pass out related material and stickers to the kids who attend about the stop, drop, and roll method. Have the students clean up after the fundraiser takes place as well.

The organizer can set up fund donation areas for the school at the fire department and police department, perhaps with a list of upcoming events the school needs donations for.  You might even ask the fire department to held get donations by stationing a few firefighters with students at the nearest intersection and do a boot drive. Drivers can give a donation when they are at the stop sign or stop light.

Once the main fundraiser is over, donation cans can be left at the fire department and police department for a week to allow for further donations. Be sure this is okay with both departments though before leaving the donation cans there.

This fundraiser is both educational and fun. This will be a great opportunity for the fire department to stress the seriousness of fire alarms in the home, as well as educate the family about what to do if a fire alarm goes off in their home.
