The games afoot. That’s right, this fundraiser is a “Whodunit Mystery”, so put on your best Sherlock Holmes hat and grab your magnifying glass because there are clues to be found and a murder to be solved.
This fundraiser is definitely one which needs to well planned before hosting. The organizer of this event will need to find a place to host it, find a student to play the victim, make all the clues which lead to the eventual case being solved, and arrange a mystery party at the end of the event.
This fundraiser should be staged to take place several times during the day so many (young and old) will have the opportunity to play. This “Whodunit” fundraiser is sure to bring in lots of funds which can be utilized during the school year to cater to the needs of whatever activity needs to be funded.
Whoever organizes this event might want to work along side of the PTA. By getting parents involved will add extra supervision to ensure things go off without a hitch. Students can be used to help set up the crime scene and can be directed to place the clues in different locations which participants have to find.
Fliers announcing this fundraiser can be sent out a week ahead of time to give the community and students the time needed to make arrangements to take part in it. An ad announcing this school fundraiser should be posted in the newspaper as well so a broader audience can be found. Be sure to include the location and time this “Whodunit Event” will take place.
A fee of $15.00 per person should be given for entrance into the game. Have a student stamp the hands of those who’ve paid so the players will be able to attend a supper which will have been arranged for the end of the evenings festivities. Keep it simple though since a lot of effort would have already went into planning the “Whodunit Mystery” in the first place. Something like hot dogs, chips, beef jerky and drink.
At the supper arrange to give out the prizes for those who solved the mystery first. You’ll need to purchase a prize for each new game which was played. Perhaps something like a gift card or t-shirt with the name of the fundraiser on it.
Prior to the fundraiser be enthusiastic about it. Talk it up and encourage the students to invite and tell everyone they know about it. Have them express the need to raise funds for the school and future events or parties the school might need funds for. This “Whodunit” fundraiser is sure to be one that will be remembered for a long time.
