There’s nothing like a clown to set the festivities at a party hopping. From young to old, people enjoy clowns. There is never a short supply of parties where a clown is needed, so why not take advantage of this need by hosting a “Rent A Clown Fundraiser”. This fundraiser would be a great opportunity for students to volunteer their services to raise money for a school event or need.
The host/hostess can start off by sending out an announcement to the students in school. Explain that there is a need to raise funds for a project, event, or need in the school. State that for the coming school year, you’ll be hosting a “Rent A Clown Fundraiser”. Ask for volunteers and send out permission slips for participation to the parents of the students willing to help out.
You might even suggest for those students who are able to participate, that their parents accompany them to the parties they’ll be attending. This way the students have a way to the party and parental oversight at the same time. Most parties don’t last for a long time so some students might be able to attend more than one party in a day.
As host/hostess of this fundraiser you’ll need to decide on a price to charge for services. Think about the time and effort that went into preparing the student for the party and shuttling the student to and from the party. Secure the payment at the end of the party or the end of the need for the clown. Have a grown up handle the money party of the fundraiser. Be sure to leave a receipt of payment slip with them.
When setting this up, be sure to get precise instructions to the location of the party and what type of clown would be expected to attend. This means that purchases of clown makeup will need to be bought for the different types of parties the clowns will be needed for. Purchase receipt books for services rendered. Advertising this fundraiser should take place early in the year, so people can book the clown. This way make-up and costumes can be arranged ahead of time.
You might be able to get donations of makeup and costumes by asking costume stores and craft stores to participate in the fundraiser. As way of a thank you for donating or loaning the make-up or costumes students can leave with the host/hostess of the parties fliers from the locations helping out. Too you might consider listing the donors business on school t-shirts as advertisement for that business.
On the day of the event arrange for the students to meet at a central location, say the school’s auditorium or cafeteria and pick up their assignment. You can have teachers and parents help each get ready for whatever party they’ll be a clown at. Once at the party they can help pass out cake, tell jokes to the kids, pass out balloons or for whatever need the host/hostess needs of the clown. This is a great time for the students to have, so be silly and entertaining.
This fundraiser is sure to be a huge success! Be creative and be fun. Give the host/hostess of the party their money’s worth of clown time! Remember this event is to raise money for your school needs.
