Plant A Tree Fundraiser Event

There are so many fundraisers that the kids bring home from school, and they all seem to have something to do with selling one product or another.  Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a fundraiser that actually did something really great for the environment while raising money at the same time?
One great way to add more quality to the environment is to have the kids conduct an Adopt-A-Tree Planting Day.  The kids will really enjoy this and people are more apt to participate in an event that has a solid, visible, lasting effect in the community!
The first thing to do is to get with a local nursery to see if they will either donate the trees or provide them at a nice discount.  A good way to do this is to type up a proposal and have it printed out with the organization’s letterhead.  Look around your area to obtain information on hospitals, parks, or retirement homes that could sue some beautification.  You will want to speak with the administrators to get approval for your group to plant the trees.  This information should go on the proposal letter to the nursery as well.
Once the approval is given and the date is set you will want to begin. You will need some volunteers with trucks to pick up the trees and deliver them.  These trucks should be committed to right away so that on planting day there will not be any problems.  The nursery may even offer to deliver them for you, or perhaps a rental place could be prevailed upon to donate the use of a trailer.
Once you have all of the information in place, you will want to begin selling the trees.  The price of the trees is going to mainly depend upon whether or not the nursery donates or discounts them.  Think about designing a certificate (out of recycled paper) to give to the buyers so that they can have a nice little record of the tree that they adopted and that it was planted in their name.  If you are really feeling inventive you can make the certificate so that it will look lovely in a frame. Be sure to put the name and address of the facility where the tree is being planted.
