This fundraiser’s focus is mostly about the fundraising for the school, with an added bonus of having a child/children recorded and fingerprinted for their donation. It will require volunteers and the help of the police department. Be sure to let everyone know that funds are being raised for the school primarily and as a thanks for their donations the recording of the kids and the fingerprinting is a thank you. Start by acquiring the help of your local police department. Then find volunteers who’ll be willing to set time aside to help keep the fundraiser flowing smoothly and orderly. Find a date that will work for all involved, then set it. Once the date has been set and the time arranged post a newspaper ad so people will have plenty of time to come and make a donation and have their child/children recorded on dvd and fingerprinted.

Things you’ll need to do to set this fundraiser up is:

1.  Donation boxes set up everywhere the fundraiser is taking place. In fact the best way to handle this part is to suggest the donations be made as parents or grandparents are coming into the facilities to have their kids recorded and fingerprinted.

2.  Arrange for someone to take digitals of kids being interviewed so they can be put on DVD’S. Have a set of questions like name, age, phone number, their parents name, color of hair and any scars or birthmarks and where they are located. Who their dentist is and doctor is too. Usually the police department will have the equipment needed to do this kind of identifying as they often volunteer at fairs to do the same thing.

3. Have a table set up for the fingerprinting station. After the kids do their digital interviews you can then have them come over to the fingerprinting table and have their fingers printed on sheets to be stored with the dvd.

4. Have a station where the finished DVD’S can be picked up.

5. As a way to lessen the expense on the police department you could approach some big chain store or wholesale store who likes to get involved in supporting their community and see if they’d be willing to donate the DVD’S needed for this fundraiser. You can speak with the managers and let them know for their donation of DVD’s they can bring their children up to be identified without a donation of money being made to the school, but if they’d like to donate that way too, they’d be more than welcomed to do so.

This fundraiser is meant to be a sort of in and out fundraiser. This way there will be no backup with people standing for a long time waiting to get their kids ID and eventually turning away and not donating to the school.

Have greeters and those who go around offering help where needed. Be sure to have people stationed at the doors to welcome and thank people for their support. You might even have printed up on a sheet of paper you can hand out as they leave how their funds will help the school and what areas the funds will be going to or what they’ll be supporting. When people know their money is actually being used for the intended purpose, they give more freely.
