Just because school is out doesn’t mean you can’t be giving thought to hosting some summer time fundraiser for the upcoming school years financial needs. In fact taking advantage of the summer months can be a great opportunity to pump up the volume of fun fundraiser events that couldn’t be held during school time.
This event is a great one to host several times over the summer school break. Parents are looking for day activities to entertain their children with, so this “Game Day Mini Camp Fundraiser” will be quite successful.
The whole premise of this event is to have as many games planned out that kids can switch back and forth from throughout the day. These could range from board games, to video games, to jump rope competitions and so on.
You can either ask for donations of games from parents, friends, or family members or you could even visit some of the larger merchant chains and ask for game donations for this fundraiser.
Most of the large merchant chains carry a plethora of board games. Games like Monopoly, Clue, Chutes and Ladders, Clue, Sorry, Uno, Crazy Eights, Ring toss and so forth. You might even be able to get a donation of a Wii, Playstation, or Xbox system for this fundraiser. You can ask that kids bring their portable game stations so they can interact with other kids.
Arrange for enough televisions to be where the game mini camp is going to be set up. Rotate game play ever thirty minutes or so, so everyone can have a chance to play if they choose to. Even suggest they bring their own game controllers so there will be an abundance and more kids can play at the same time.
Advertise the event about a week ahead of time so parents can have the opportunity to make arrangements for their kids to attend. Suggest an admittance fee of $10.00 which would include the day’s game play as well as snacks and drinks. Send out fliers, put an ad in the newspaper and share word of mouth exposure.
Snacks could be something like soda, chips, a sandwich, popcorn. These things can be held in hand and easily cleaned up. You can assign several volunteers to oversee the food and clean up.
You’ll need to arrange for volunteers to keep an eye on ever game area you set up. This will keep things running smoothly and keep irritations down. This also provides adult supervision for the fundraiser.
This event could be set up to take place at a community center, church recreation center, or some other enclosed/air conditioned place. You want your environment to be comfortable for all who attend. This is one of those fundraisers kids will enjoy and parents will enjoy bringing their kids to.
To end the days event you could pass out ribbons of participation to all the kids or certificates to all who attend. This way the kids will have something to remember this fun filled day by. However you set this fundraiser up, it all starts out with a plan. Hopefully these ideas will help in organizing a fundraiser you can hold a few times over the summer to raise funds for those in school activities.
