It’s that time of the year when thought is being given to desserts. The holidays are around the corner, guests are sure to drop in, and having the appropriate light snack to offer is needed! Why not take this opportunity to host a Fruit Bread Fundraiser?
There are many different types of Fruit Breads out there, but the most popular and pleasing are:
- Banana Nut Bread,
- Pumpkin Bread
- Zucchini Bread.
- Lemon Poppy Seed
Add chocolate chips, walnuts or pecans and these breads become yummier!
The cost for gathering ingredients can be divided out between those taking part. Assign different families certain ingredients. Flour, sugar, eggs, Zucchini, Walnuts, Pecans, Bananas; if everyone simply is responsible for bulk buying one item, no-one will have too high of a cost. If you are good at wheedling, get your local grocers to split costs!
Hit dollar stores for cheap small loaf pans, waxed paper and plastic decorative bags with twist ties that can be used to package the breads. Muffin tins are good too – use paper cups and make batches in each flavor so you can offer a variety pack.
Add cheerfully color coded stickers to identify different flavors at a glance. You could very well find a willing marketplace to donate these items and even make arrangements to sell some of your wares there and draw traffic in during the holiday seasons.
Make attractive fliers which catch the eye of would be customers. Hobby stores carry a variety of papers which run with the theme of the fundraiser. Pass these fliers out wherever you can.
Be sure to include on the fliers the time and date these breads will be available for pick-up or delivery. If you can set up a stand and sell in addition to pre-selling, you can make even more profits.. Don’t forget to include the cost of each loaf of fruit bread. A good price to ask is $ 3-4 per small loaf or four muffins, or $6-7 for a large loaf or eight muffins. Have easily reachable volunteers’ phone numbers on the fliers so orders can be placed. Make arrangements to deliver these breads to each customer. .
Churches, grocery stores, neighborhoods, local auxiliary meetings and businesses are good places to leave fliers as well. Be sure to ask your family and extended families to purchase these delicious breads to help raise funds.
Arrange for three or four families to offer their homes as baking central. Divide the list up between all the families baking. This way no one family will be stressed out with so much baking to do. You can assign other parents as delivery people. They can drive and let the kids deliver the breads to each doors and collect the money.
This fundraiser can be done several times through the holiday season. It’s a good way to raise those monies needed to support whatever activity or event needs them throughout the school year.
