Ah! Oh! Wow!! Cool! Yep it’s that time of year again. Skies are going to be lit up with an array of different colors. It’s the perfect time to host a “Light up the Sky Fireworks Display Fundraiser”.
Here is how this works. Find an open location which will allow you to set off fireworks for your fundraiser event. Once that is located the planning begins!
You’ll need to find volunteers to help you out with this one, as it’ll be more than just setting off a few fireworks. Plan on arranging for hotdogs and hamburgers to be sold, along with chips, sodas, cotton candy and homemade ice cream.
Start drumming up people willing to donate time and resources for this larger than life fundraiser. You can do this by addressing the city council stating your need for donations for food and fireworks. Explain that you’re trying to raise funds for your local schools to cover activities which aren’t covered, due to the lack of funds in the school budget.
They may be able to pull the strings needed to get everything you need, without paying out of pocket money to get this fundraiser in order. Be gracious and appreciative, maybe even volunteering your own services for upcoming projects within the council itself.
Now run a volunteer campaign in the local newspaper to find support for the event. List the areas you need volunteers for. You’ll need people to help cook the food, sell the candy and serve the ice cream. You’ll also need a clean up crew for after the fundraiser is held. Too you will need to include the price for admittance into this magical night of sights and sounds.
As always state that this fundraiser is to raise funds for the local schools their kids go to. Let them know the money raised will address the extra curricular activities the kids have throughout the school year.
The cost of admittance lets them experience not only the fireworks display, but the food, beverages, candy and ice cream too, at no extra cost. Coupons can be handed out for each food/drink item per person, when the cost of admittance is paid.
The cost of admittance should vary according to car load size. You’ll want to decide on how much to charge for admittance. This is something you could even discuss with city council if you want to involve them in this fundraiser affair. It never hurts to have the city helping out.
Have areas designated for cars/trucks/vans to pull up to, to pay for their entry into the activity area, pass out the coupons for food/drinks at this time as well.
Before the big day arrives have a run through with all your volunteers assigning all a location to man. You want this to run as smoothly as possible. Let all know they are responsible for maintaining their areas they are given.
For the fireworks display, acquire professionals to handle this part of the fundraiser. Safety is always the best policy where fire is concerned. No one wants a fat lip because a fire-cracker blew up in their face.
Okay the Roman Candles are hissing, it’s about time. Get out there and have the best fundraiser ever.
