Deli Sandwich Fundraiser at Your School?

deli sandwich fundraiser

Looking for a quick and easy fundraiser to help boost those funds for school needs? Then this one might be one you can consider. Everyone seems to enjoy eating a sandwich. There’s something about piling all those goodies on a sandwich which makes a mouth water. So this fundraiser is all about creating deli style sandwiches.

To help cut down on the cost of expenditures, the host/hostess might approach the school’s principle with the hopes of getting permission to set this up in the school cafeteria. A Saturday or Sunday, even both, would be good days to do this. If it can’t be held at the school, then someplace like a community center would be another option. If held at the school, use the dishes there. If not, then paper plates are cheap.

Create a list of sandwiches that will be available. Limit yourself to about three different types, as this cuts down on added cost. You’re wanting to bring money in and not put more out.

Something like chicken salad, ham and cheese or turkey would be great sandwiches to make. Buy only the foods needed for the fundraiser.  Do get some nice lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. You could purchase can sodas and bags of potato chips to round the meal off. Purchasing pickle spears as the garnish really will set the Deli feel to this event.

A suggested price to ask for this meal would be $7.00 per plate. You can get the students involved by having them make the sandwiches as people come through the buffet line. Each student can hold a different position in line. One for the sodas, one for the chips, one for each different type of sandwich, the garnish and so on.

Prior to the Deli Fundraiser, create fun fliers. You can find themed paper at places like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Office Supply stores and so one. Look for Deli related material. Create your fliers, by adding the time, place and date of the event, with the menu selections available. Too list why it’s being held and what the funds will go towards. Purchase a few thank you gifts to be given out at the event.

Have a prepared presentation regarding the importance of school activities and why parental/community funding is essential to the school’s well-being. After the presentation draw the names for those thank you gifts. Modest, but nice gifts could be, gift certificates for lunch, Office Supplies, or movies.

Like with any fundraiser, half the success is in the way it’s promoted. Don’t stop with just sending fliers home with the students, but put an advert in the local newspaper, send extra fliers home with kids to pass out to other family members and so forth.

School activities need the funding. By hosting these fundraisers with all the excitement that comes with a good idea, will make it easy to host other fundraisers down the road. The primary reason might be the need for money ,but when you couple fun with it, the whole event will be a success.
