Having a hard time trying to come up with a fun way to raise some money? Why not try a bachelor / bachelorette raffle? Think of the instant attraction that a bachelor / bachelorette raffle could possibly bring to your group—and the possible funds that could be raised as well. Setting up this kind of raffle is really not as hard as it seems. Allow some time to set this auction up, to do some advertising, and then to let the raffle begin.
Deciding who the bachelor / bachelorette would be up for in the raffle is the most important step—and securing their agreement as well. Whether that bachelor / bachelorette is the local professional basketball or football star—or a local media celebrity—make sure that they will have enough name recognition to bring the attention you want to your raffle.
Next up would be deciding on possible sponsors for a raffle. Top of the list would be a limousine company, of course—to provide a first-class ride for the winner of the date and the bachelor / bachelorette.
Contact limousine services in the area, and see if they would be willing to donate their services in return for free advertising. In lieu of that, perhaps a reduced fee for a portion of advertising could also be worked out.
Looking for events for the lucky couple to attend is another matter—and a very important consideration. Once local businesses find out what the raffle is about, and what your group is supporting, there is likely to be quite a few volunteers to help out.
Consider events such as a symphony, or a movie/theater premiere. Other ideas could be a trip to a NASCAR event, depending on who the celebrity is—or another premiere red carpet event.
Asking sponsors for tickets or donations to these different events for the bachelor / bachelorette and the date winner to attend should be fairly easy, and direct. Sit down, and draft out a letter to potential sponsors telling them about the auction.
Explain that the proceeds will benefit a charity group, and that some type of advertising will be provided for them in return for what they donate. Be sure to hand write the addresses—both addressee, and return address—as this will impress the potential sponsors that some time has been spent on the letters.
Check with local boutiques as well for wardrobes that can be borrowed, or rented at a very low cost for the lucky couple. In the letter that is sent out to the possible sponsor boutiques, explain what the needs would be, where proceeds from the raffle would go—and of course, advertising options.
Once all of the details have been put together—celebrity, dinner, advertising, tickets and events—then all that is needed is for the raffle to happen. Once the raffle date arrives—take the time to have fun. Announce the winner, and send the lucky couple(s) off on a fun time—and enjoy the proceeds for your group.
